Johanna Quaas (born in 1925) is the oldest gymnast in the world and resides in Germany. The Guinness Book of Records recognized her as the oldest gymnast in the world in 2012 when she was 86 years old. Johanna still regularly competes in the amateur competition Landes-Seniorenspiele, staged in Saxony, Germany.
She started her gymnastics career at an early age and appeared in her first competition in 1934. She finished her job training as a gymnastics coach in Stuttgart in 1945. Afterward, she moved to Weibenfels, where she trained in handball because gymnastics was then banned by the Allied Control Council. In 1947, this ban was lifted, and she resumed her gymnastics career.
She married gymnast coach, Gerhard Quaas, in 1963 and has three daughters.
Johanna rose to prominence in 2012, when several of her YouTube training videos received millions of views.
